About Word.now - Building a Privacy-First AI Email Assistant

We built Word.now because AI email tools keep producing replies that sound like everyone else. We think your email should sound like you.

Why we built this

The existing AI email tools have a common problem: they all produce the same kind of output. Formal, slightly stiff, slightly overlong. The kind of email that reads as obviously AI-generated to anyone who knows the sender. The kind that starts with "I hope this email finds you well."

This happens because most tools use a general-purpose AI model with a generic prompt. The model does not know how you actually write. It does not know that you prefer short replies. That you open with the person's first name and skip the pleasantries. That you always close with "best" rather than "kind regards." That you use full sentences, not bullet points, when writing to clients.

A second problem: most AI email tools require you to hand over access to your entire inbox. That is a large ask. Many people are not comfortable granting a third-party service the ability to read everything they have ever received, in exchange for slightly faster email replies.

We built Word.now to address both of these problems. Reply generation that learns your actual writing style, using only the examples you choose to share. And a free tool that works without any inbox access at all.

What Word.now is

Word.now is an AI email reply generator with a personalization layer we call reply identity.

The free tool works immediately with no account. You describe what you need to say, pick your goal, tone, and recipient type, and the tool generates a clear reply you can edit and send. No email account connection required at any point.

If you create an account (free tier always available), you unlock the reply identity system. You save examples of email replies you have written and were happy with. Word.now analyzes those examples to understand how you write: your typical sentence length, your greeting and sign-off patterns, your use of punctuation and paragraph structure. When you generate a reply with your identity enabled, the output is shaped by those patterns rather than a generic baseline.

The more examples you add, the more accurately the system reflects how you actually communicate. You are in control of what goes into your identity. You can view, edit, and delete any saved example at any time.

Works with any email client - Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, or anything else.
Honest guides and comparisons - We write about AI email tools, including competitors, with accuracy as the standard.

Editorial standards

Word.now publishes guides and comparisons about AI email tools. We have a set of standards we try to hold ourselves to in producing that content.

We write what we actually believe

We do not write positive things about tools because we have a commercial relationship with them. We do not write negative things about competitors because they compete with us. We try to write what is accurate and useful to someone trying to make an informed decision.

We are transparent about who we are

Word.now is a commercial product. We want you to use it. That creates an obvious conflict when we write comparisons that include our own product. We disclose this in every comparison page. We try to rank ourselves fairly rather than positioning Word.now as the best choice for everyone regardless of the actual use case.

We update when things change

AI email tools change frequently. Pricing changes, features are added and removed, and privacy policies are updated. We try to keep our content current. Pages include a last-reviewed date. If you find something outdated, let us know.

We cite sources where possible

Factual claims about competitors are based on publicly available documentation, pricing pages, and terms of service. We do not make up features or misrepresent how products work. Where we are uncertain, we say so.

Who Word.now is for

Word.now is most useful to people who:

  • Spend a meaningful part of their day writing email replies and find it repetitive
  • Want AI help with reply writing but are not comfortable connecting their inbox to a third-party service
  • Write enough email that generic AI output sounds obviously wrong to their recipients
  • Work in roles where writing style and tone matter, such as account management, client services, or leadership
  • Want to understand AI email tools before committing to one, and want guides written without sales pressure

Word.now is probably not the right tool for someone who wants an AI that automatically manages their entire inbox, joins their meetings, or books appointments on their behalf. Those use cases exist and tools for them exist, but Word.now is not one of them.

What we do not claim

We try to be honest about the limits of what Word.now is and what AI email tools can do in general.

We do not claim AI-generated replies are always correct. They can contain errors, missed nuance, or tones that do not fit the situation. Always read before sending.
We do not claim personalization makes replies indistinguishable from your own writing. It produces output that is more like you than generic AI output. That is a meaningful improvement, not a perfect imitation.
We do not claim Word.now is appropriate for sensitive communications. Do not use the tool to generate replies involving legal, medical, financial, or HR matters without careful review and appropriate professional guidance.
We do not claim our comparison content is free from bias. We have tried to be fair, but we are the makers of one of the products we compare. Read our methodology and verify claims independently.
